Firetruck purchase approved
New tanker will replace truck in service since 2001
Portland Board of Works approved the purchase of a new tanker truck for the fire department during its meeting Thursday. At a cost of more than half a million dollars, the new truck will replace a two-and-a-half-decade-old vehicle.
City faces four claims
Current, former employees have alleged defamation, harassment
Four tort claims name the City of Portland or its police department, with some also naming Mayor Jeff Westlake, Police Chief Dustin Mock, assistant police chief Donnie Miller or investigator Jeff Hopkins. Others named in at least one claim include Jay County Probation Office and probation office employee Ashley Reynolds.
