Fort volleyball tops Blackhawks

UNION CITY, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team continued its strong start with a win in straight sets Tuesday over the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks.
The Indians (3-1) beat the host Blackhawks 25-14, 25-13, 25-5.
Kendra Siefring led the Tribe with eight kills and also tallied seven blocks. Morgan Lennartz also had seven blocks to go with her five kills.
Kirsten Jutte and Cassidy Rammel had 10 and nine assists respectively, and Tori Lennartz added six kills.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also beat Mississinawa Valley, 25-11, 25-6.
Carley Stone led the Indians’ JV squad with six kills and five digs. Kiah Wendel recorded three digs and four kills, and Jill Roessner tallied seven assists.

Stars fall to Squaws
DECATUR — The South Adams girls soccer team wasn’t able to slow down the Bellmont offense Tuesday as it dropped a 15-0 decision to the host Squaws.
Bellmont scored its first goal in the third minute, and tacked on eight more in the first half to take a 9-0 lead into intermission.

South Adams (0-2) held the Squaw offense at bay for nearly 20 minutes after halftime, but Bellmont found twine 18 minutes into the second half to take a double-digit lead.
Bellmont added five more goals in the final 15 minutes of the game, and the Starfires were unable to manage a single shot on net.
Cassie Yoder started the game as goalkeeper for the Starfires and finished with two saves. Jade Jauregui had four saves in relief of Yoder.

FRMS spikers win
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams picked up their first wins of the season Tuesday over the St. Johns Blue Jays.
The Tribe seventh graders won 25-10, 25-17, and the eighth grade Indians won 25-6, 25-23.
Rachel Thien led the seventh graders with eight service points. Olivia Patch and Brook Kahlig added six and five aces respectively.
For the Tribe eighth graders, Hannah Knapke had a team-high 11 kills. Faith Kahlig tallied 10 assists and seven service points, and Madi Rammel recorded eight assists and six aces.
Both teams are 1-0 on the season.
