Fort volleyball beats St. John's

DELPHOS, Ohio — Kendra Siefring had 11 kills and seven blocks Thursday, helping the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team to a win over conference rival St. John’s.
The Indians (4-1, 1-0 Midwest Athletic Conference) beat St. John’s 25-16, 15-25, 25-14, 25-10.
Tori Lennartz also had 11 kills to go with her two blocks. Cassidy Rammel had seven kills, eight digs and three blocks. She also had 16 assists and four aces.
Madi Grover and Caley Schoenherr both recorded 10 digs, and Rachel Pugh had 11 digs.
Devin Post contributed six kills and eight digs for the Indians, who will play in the St. Marys Invitational Saturday and then host Jay County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Bruns shoots 39
DELPHOS, Ohio — Chase Bruns shot a 39 Thursday for the third straight round, leading the FRHS boys golf team to a 165-194 win over St. John’s.
It was the lowest team score for the Indians and the fourth straight match medalist honors for Bruns.
Jackson Hobbs and Derek Backs both turned in scores of 40, and Nick Litmer and Micaiah Cox tied at 46 to round out the Indians’ team score.
Hobbs posted his lowest score of the season by four strokes, and Backs tied his season-best sore he set Aug. 15.
Cole Wendel (53) also competed for the Tribe.
Pearson leads FRMS
FORT RECOVERY — Clayton Pearson accounted for three touchdowns Thursday, leading the Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade football team to a 24-8 win over the St. Henry Redskins.
The FRMS seventh graders lost 22-16.
Pearson ran for a 1-yard score, threw a 33-yard TD pass to Payton Jutte and returned an interception 16 yards to paydirt.
Robby LeFevre added a 38-yard rushing touchdown.
For the Tribe seventh graders, Garret Faller and Evan Westgerdes ran for scores of 22 and 4 yards respectively. Owen Schoen and Shawn Post each had an interception, and Riley Post had a pair of two-point conversions.
