Abner ordained in Bryant

Pastor Robert Abner was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament on Nov. 1 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant.
Abner has been serving as a lay minister at Redeemer for the past three years. Abner attended Ball State University for undergraduate studies and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California, for graduate work. Special thanks was given for the life of Abner’s late wife Tiffany at the ceremony, which was held on All Saints Day.

Joins staff
Diana Russell was recently named director of fund development at the Maria Stein (Ohio) Shrine of the Holy Relics. Russell lives in St. Marys, Ohio, and was former director of the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
The shrine is located at the original Sisters of the Precious Blood on St. Johns Road in Maria Stein and has more than 1,000 relics on display.

Free meal
Bread of Life Community Family Meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 204 E. Arch St., in Portland. Everyone is welcome to share a meal and conversation. The meal this week will be prepared and served by First Presbyterian Church in Portland.

Re-Awakening
Jay County Re-Awakening prayer groups meet each Thursday at 7 p.m. This week the groups are asked to pray for Bryant Wesleyan Church and its pastor Paul VanCise. Also pray for youth pastor Bob Schroeder and leadership board members.
