2nd-ranked Flyers knock off Fort (10/03/2008)

FORT RECOVERY - The Indians took a game from the second-ranked team in the state. But they slipped back below .500.
The Division IV No. 2 Marion Local Flyers defeated the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team 25-19, 25-13, 25-27, 25-15 Thursday, dropping the Tribe to 9-10 on the year.
Nicole Pottkotter had 24 assists and 13 kills for the Indians, who are now 2-5 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. Alyssa Brackman added 15 digs and four points, and Emily May totaled 24 digs.
Kelsey Wuebker matched Pottkotter with 24 assists, Kinsey Wenning notched 11 kills and Holly Brunswick had nine points.
Fort Recovery also lost the junior varsity match, 25-22, 25-11.
Freshman
ST. HENRY, Ohio - The Indians fell to 9-8 on the year with a 25-11, 25-16 loss to the St. Henry Redskins.
Kayla Kahlig led the Tribe with eight points and four assists, and Olivia Schwieterman added four assists and three kills. Abby Backs, Ericka Lennartz and Kara Faller each had two digs, Backs totaled three points and Lennartz added three kills.
Middle school
COLDWATER, Ohio - Fort Recovery Middle School's eighth grade team rallied from a game-one defeat to top the Coldwater Cavaliers 11-25, 25-22, 25-22 Thursday.
The seventh grade team lost 25-13, 25-10.
Chelsea Pottkotter had 11 points, eight kills, three blocks and two digs to lead the eighth graders (9-4). Janelle Schwieterman had 11 points, including six aces, four assists and three blocks.
Sierra Pugh's three points and two assists led the seventh grade team. Hannah Kaup scored two points, and Sam Florence added one kill.[[In-content Ad]]
