4-H leader says thank yous
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Another year of 4-H is just about over. A lot of hard work has been done by many — club leaders, 4-H kids, parents, office help and extension and youth agents.
I started my 4-H journey as a 4-H leader 26 years ago. Over the years, I have worked with a lot of children and adults. I have seen tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of disappointment and the thrill of receiving a grand champion ribbon.
The last three years I have been the Green Building Superintendent. At this time, I am resigning this position, but will continue to be a 4-H club leader. I will also help with some fundraisers for the green building to get skirting for the tables.
The 4-H program has changed a lot over the years. I believe some changes were good, while others were not so good. One constant is the kids. The kids are the only reason I became involved in the program. It is really awesome to see kids work hand-in-hand with their parents to complete their projects. The reason I am writing this letter is to thank several people. I first want to thank my family for all they have put up with over the years. I also want to thank the girls, John and Cara in the office.
Also, thanks to the adults and kids who helped set up and tear down at the green building. It is a lot of hard work and everyone was great. Please sign up to help next year.
I do ask that everyone gets behind whoever takes over the green building. 4-H is all about the kids, and it takes a lot of volunteers to make a great fair. I would also ask that whoever takes over continues my tradition of not turning away any kid. This is something I have always believed in.
Thanks again to the kid for being helpful and supportive. I will see you all at the fair next year, only as a club leader and grandparent.
Thank you,
Teresa Weesner

Great fair
To the editor:
Congratulations to the Jay County Fair Board for another successful fair. Our fairgrounds looked beautiful and the entertainment was wonderful.
On Senior Day at the fair, our annual free Senior Bingo was held. Prizes were given for all games and there was a nice attendance. Several area businesses who serve senior citizens were also there. We would like to especially thank the James family and the Pennville American Legion for the use of their bingo equipment.
Thank you also to our fair board members, who put in countless hours of work. Our fairgrounds is one of the best and we should all be proud of it.
