4-H official says thanks (8/23/05)

I would like to thank the following volunteers who made the recent Jay County 4-H Fair the success it was.

Bob Schmidt, Ron Zimmerman and Chris Price of the Grounds Committee worked every day two weeks prior to the fair. I would also like to thank the other members of that committee: Darrell Upp, Mike Knapke, Kris Woodbury, Randy Stephen, Craig Muhlenkamp and Rich Emery.

I would also like to thank the Swine Committee that consisted of Chad Towell, Gary Rodgers, Doug and Carla Horn, Mike Knapke, Bob Armstrong, Damian Kunk, Gregg Westgerdes, Randy and Darren McAbee, Bill McAbee Jr., and junior representatives Travis Towell and Randy Stephen.

Also, a special thank you to Jenae Horn, Kerra Zimmerman, Randy Rigby, Duane “Doc” Craig, Bill Horn, Kevin and Kris Woodbury for the painting, Randy and Darren McAbee, Ryan Hodson and Flowers by Anna.

Thanks also to all of the volunteers, parents, grandparents and 4-Hers for yet another successful Jay County 4-H Fair.

Trash diggers

To the editor:

We reside in the west end of Portland. For the past several weeks, someone has rummaged through our recycling bin each Friday morning, leaving behind an awful mess. Neither my son nor I can figure out what you are searching for.

When the truck arrives, the employee dumps the contents of the bin into the truck. However, they will not pick up what vandals have left on the ground.

We are tired of it. Going through someone else’s trash is gross and it’s causing us an inconvenience.

Cruise-in thanks

To the editor:

Ladonie and I want to thank the Hollow Block Cruisers for the benefit they did for Haven.

Duane and Louise Harter, we thank you so much for what you did for Haven. We love you for that.

We want to thank all the people who took time out that day to come, and all who donated to the benefit.

We can’t name all the people. We just thank all who had a hand in making it successful.

We want to thank (CR reporter) Rachelle Haughn for her help. May God bless each and every one who helped out.
