A challenge for our country

Editor's mailbag

By To the editor:-

This great country is sitting on the downward side of a steep slope into the depths of moral depravity. Man’s efforts, outside of God’s direction and blessing and without a uniting of His people, will surely fail to change its direction.

I feel compelled to write this letter to encourage people for God’s glory and for the good of his people.

There is hope. It is found in God’s Word, in the prayers of His people, and in being heard in the stand against ungodly principles and activities. Although righteousness can not be legislated into the hearts of people, we can legislate against unrighteousness in order to make it harder to do wrong, and easier to do that which is right.

Political correctness and secularism must not be allowed to take the place of the Godly point of view. It is always fair and balanced and right to present the biblical point of view. We are one nation under God. God’s rule and reign over this nation and the world will never cease.

God says homosexuality is a sin. It should not be trivialized, condoned or supported. This is what God says. We should say it is wrong, not because we dislike it, or because we think it doesn’t matter. It is wrong because God says it is wrong.

God says murder is wrong, even that of unborn babies. This is God’s word; this is God’s world. We are not our own, but were bought with a price — the price of Jesus’ blood. To not acknowledge Him as God and the truth of His word will bring His wrath, not His care, keeping or blessing.

There are many Godly state legislators and Godly congressmen and senators and even a Godly president. These all, Godly or ungodly, need to hear from all of us who name the name of Jesus.

I urge everyone who names the name of Jesus — young people, parents and grandparents — to write or e-mail the legislators, congressmen and senators, and even the president, that we will stand behind them with our prayers, our voices and our votes as they implement Godly activity in the days ahead.

We have been the silent majority too long. Let that no longer be the case. We must be heard. We can not be silent. We must not be silent. Jesus says that if we are ashamed of Him and His word, that He will be ashamed of us before the Father. God says that He will bless the nation whose God is the Lord.

With a loving challenge,

Bill Daugherty
