A great idea (9/21/04)

Kudos to Glynn Barber. As a former resident of Portland, it's great to see someone envision an idea that can and I believe will, help put the city of Portland on the map.
Yes, there will be additional traffic and some noise increase for residents near the sports park. Hopefully, Mr. Barber, Portland officials, and area residents will be able to work together on keeping these issues to a minimum.
I believe the overall good of this endeavor will be worth any small amount of inconvenience. A sports park is a unique idea that can only benefit a community starving for outside vistors/tourists.
This will give local business an added boost so desperately needed. Mr. Barber's undertaking also includes added jobs, without hurting or taking away from already established businesses in town.
I applaud you Mr. Barber on your vision and wish you the best of luck.
