A little angel (8/9/04)

Editor's Mailbag

By To the editor:-

As I was driving in Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning the phone rang. I answered, and was given the news that my little neighbor girl had passed on to her heavenly reward.

Little Hunter Byers was one of the most inspirational young people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. A few years back, around the holidays, The Commercial Review printed a letter I wrote about her. The response was overwhelming, and we were able to provide her family with assistance when they needed it most.

The staff down at Riley Children's Hospital must have been as impressed with her as we all were. She has been the featured smiling little girl on their posters and literature for the past several years.

It sure is funny how life goes for us. Last Saturday I was able to celebrate a milestone class reunion and renew old acquaintances.

One classmate, Hunter's daddy Bob was not there to be with us, for obvious reasons.

This (past) Saturday I will be both honored and heartbroken all at the same time as I carry a small angel to her final resting place at the request of her daddy.

Sadly but sincerely submitted by,
