A message for grandparents (9/10/05)

Letter to the Editor

By To the editor:-

What is a perfect marriage? I do not believe that there is a perfect marriage. It’s not possible. The commitment of a marriage is possible. Through all the ups and downs in a marriage, that commitment should be the first thing on our minds (till death do we part ...).

Through thick and thin (as long as infidelity or abuse doesn’t enter into the marriage) you stick it out, through good and bad times.

You will find its value when you see the new life you started. I’m not talking about your children. I’m talking about those sweet babies your children bring into this world. What can you give your children and grandchildren that will last forever?

That commitment is your gift to them. In the end of life that commitment is all you really leave behind.

You see all this new life the two of you started and see it was so worth all those ups and downs, all the thick and thin times, all the highs and lows of a marriage, to watch your children have their own children, and on it goes.

Commitment. That is the key to a long marriage. If you are looking for the perfect marriage you will never find it. Nobody is perfect.

Happy Grandparents Day, Sept. 11.

Waiting for grandchildren nine and 10.
