Additions to street project approved
Portland Board of Works
City officials have approved additional costs for the Boundary Pike/Wayne Street project.
Two change orders - one $408,713 and the other $49,101 - were approved by the Portland Board of Works Thursday morning. The city will pay 20 percent of the cost, with the Indiana Department of Transportation paying the remainder.
Mark Jesse, director of Bonar Group, said after Thursday's meeting that these are the final change orders for the city to review. The project was completed Dec. 9 and included separation of storm and sanitary sewers, new lighting, new sidewalks, new curbs and gutters.
Total cost of the project was $5,941,997, and had been estimated to cost $5.1 million. Several change orders hiked the price.
The change orders approved Thursday were for material usage and water main work.
The most costly order was a final tally of all materials used for the project. In some cases, more material than projected was used. In other instances, less was used.
The second change order was for chain link fencing, trees and water main materials.[[In-content Ad]]
