Airport questions unanswered
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
On March 6 I wrote a letter to the editor in defense of David Miller regarding the mess at the airport. From all the people I talked with, we were hoping the board would keep him.
We also knew that it was almost a given that he would end up with the short end of the stick. The experts have hired Mr. Tavzel. I'm sure he will do a good job and he's certainly more than qualified.
So what will happen to David and his fleet of planes? There again, the experts will decide if he is good enough to become the fixed base operator (FBO) and build a new hangar. I said before it would be good for the airport if his business stays here but no one could blame him if he decided to go to Celina after all.
After 20 years it seems like he got a slap in the face. He more than likely will be blamed for the mess with the repairs too. But it sure seems strange that right after my letter came out the mess with the land that looks like a landfill, or they called it XPLEX, came to light.
Now the city is finally going to do something about that. But was there any blame to that or did anyone get the short end of the stick for this? Good question; another story.
We are still waiting for Mayor Hosier to tell us what the qualifications are to be on the board of aviation. Gosh, maybe there is someone that would like to be on it. And if he ever tells us, he needs to tell us how the people on the park board are picked. That would be interesting to know. Barry Hudson might want to know since he's fighting his way through.
But back to David. I'm sorry you didn't get the manager's job, but was it a surprise? No, don't think so. What ever you decide we will be waiting to hear. Any comments Bruce? There are a ton of people curious about your experts.
Thank you,
Penny Imel
