Akers: Thanks to community
Letter to the Editor
To the editor:
The family of Matt Aker would like to extend our sincere and deep appreciation to everyone who has supported us in the last two months. It would be even more difficult to go on day after day without all of the love, prayers and support we have received from so many that cared about Matt and about all of us.
Thank you for being kind and supportive.
It is difficult to name all of the people and organizations that were instrumental in helping with the services, so we apologize if we leave anyone out. We would like to sincerely thank the Portland Fire Department; Bryant, Dunkirk, Pennville, Redkey and Salamonia fire departments; all of the fire departments throughout Indiana that were here to help and show support; the Indiana Fire Chief’s Association; Indiana Firefighters Association; Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association; Jay County EMS, Jay County Hospital; Jay County Sheriff Department; Portland Police Department; Indiana State Police; City of Portland department heads and employees; Parkview Hospital and Samaritan; American Red Cross in Mercer and Delaware counties; Pastor Tim Dilly; Pastor Hugh Kelly; Baird-Freeman Funeral Home; Green Park Cemetery; Jeff Upp; Jay County High School; Rodney Bye; Jay Community Center; Delta Theta Tau Sorority; Carla Horn; Mayor Bruce Hosier; WPGW; The Commercial Review; The Portland Foundation and Arby’s.
Thank you so much to everyone who has made a donation to the Matt Aker Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Matt loved this community, and he loved public service, community service, fire service and police service.
It is because of you that Matt’s name and the great legacy he started to create will be passed on for others to carry forward for years to come.
Thank you so much for helping to make this possible.
Most importantly, we want to thank our dear friends, family and the wonderful community of Jay County that have shown such love and support through the most difficult time of our lives.
Sincerely,
Brooke Aker, Mike and Linda Aker, Brad Aker and family, Lori Ferguson and family, and Chad Aker and family[[In-content Ad]]
