America is in a spiritual crisis

Letters to the Editor

Letter to the editor:
I talked the other day with a police officer who brought up the heroin addiction that is going on in this community and the surrounding towns.
This was a drug that became popular in New York in the 1970s.
We have prescription addictions and texting addictions and computer addictions.
There is violence in the streets of America.
Time Magazine put the occupiers in New York who raped women and defecated on the front of police cars on the front cover of their magazine as the people of the year and condemned the Tea Party as the weird ones.
Our economy is failing. Our government is in chaos, elected officials angry at each other and lying to each other and lying to this country.
Our churches are mostly motivational speakers and prosperity teachers.
As the Bible said of the last days, the church would seek teachers who would tickle their ears instead of giving the people sound Biblical truth.
Recent polls tell us evangelical Christians say 85 percent of them do not understand Biblical holiness, and 85 percent of them do not understand the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Then my question to churches and pastors with this lack of understanding of two major doctrines in scriptures, who is building our churches? Us or God?
We have lukewarm people who claim to be Christians but live their lives like He does not exist, let’s call it what it is … it is Christian atheism.
Ron Luce of Acquire the Fire, a major youth ministry in America, said that of our nation’s teenagers only about 4 percent of them will be Christians. It has been said, “as the pulpit goes so does the congregation and as the congregation goes so does the nation.”
In response to what has been said about our nation and the churches in America, what should we do as Christians?
We should understand the times we are living in. We should repent of our apathy and complacency and our lukewarmness towards God. Come back to God and fall back in love with the one who died for us and loves us so much and begin to pray and be the light that Jesus called us to be.
If we do this soon, and I mean soon, He may forgive us, pour out his presence and glory on us once again, as thousands of people in America will come back to God’s salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. And soon He will split the eastern sky wide open, as the trumpet of God explodes on the scene, and He establishes His kingdom that will never fail and every eye shall behold Him and every tongue will confess He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
That is the government you can believe in! Amen!
