'Angel' makes holidays brighter
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
During this past holiday season, I found myself, like many others, feeling very depressed. Thinking of all the ones we love who are no longer here. The condition of the economy and everyone struggling to survive in it. Family members with health issues and a million other things to think about. I found myself with little to no holiday spirit.
I don't like shopping, but at this time of year, this is what we do. I seem to always put if off until the last minute.
After living in Jay County for the past 33 years, I have become a loyal fan of Jay County. When I do go shopping, I shop in Jay County. This makes our community strong. When I need groceries or a light bulb, I don't want to drive to Muncie to get it. I can get it right here.
On Dec. 24 I went into a downtown shop to see what I could find. With so little time I was sure I would walk out empty-handed. Instead, I placed an order. The shopkeeper told me to be back in two hours and it would be ready.
When I returned, she placed my order on the counter and said, "no charge; it's all taken care of." I know my jaw dropped open. No one in my life has ever done anything like this before. I was having a very hard time speaking. And for me, that rarely happens. I was having a hard time believing a stranger would be so generous.
I've always heard about "angels among us," but never dreamed I would come so close to one.
I don't know who you are, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Not so much for the gift of money, but the gift of giving. The gift of sharing with someone else.
Your gift made a big difference in my holiday. It reminded me of the true reason for the season.
There are angels in Jay County. I found mine downtown.
Sincerely,
Madonna Phelps

Time to pray
To the editor:
Just a few days ago, the Jayland Revival Movement was formed. Since its organization several individuals have called, talked to us on Facebook, and spoken to us in person about how excited they are to be a part of this interdenominational prayer effort.
The main goals are as follows:
1. To get hundreds of believers in Jayland to covenant to pray each day (and fast as the Lord directs them) for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
2. To pray for each church and its Pastor that revival will break out in each township. (There are more than 90 churches in the area).
3. To pray for the unsaved that they would repent of their sins and be saved.
Let your pastor know you are praying for real revival. We need to hear from heaven. The Holy Spirit is standing at the door of Jayland's heart knocking. Let's let Him in.
There are prayer maps of Jay County available. Call your pastor or contact me.
Sincerely,
Phill Jellison,
Evangelist/pastor,
