Archbold ends Tribe season

FRHS softball

LIMA, Ohio - The Blue Streaks struck again.

For the third time this season, a Fort Recovery High School girls team had its season come to an end at the hands of the Archbold Blue Streaks. This time it came in softball, as Archbold handed the Indians a 12-2 defeat in the semifinal round of the Division III district tournament at Bath.

The Blue Streaks, who also defeated FRHS in the basketball and volleyball district tournaments, picked up single tallies in each of the first three innings and then took a 6-0 lead with three runs in the top of the fourth. They advance to play Parkway in Saturday's district championship game.

Andi Sutter took the loss for Fort Recovery (13-15), giving up 12 runs - five earned - on 10 hits and a walk while striking out four. The Tribe defense committed five errors behind her.

Olivia Thien had one of the Indians' five hits, and also added a run and an RBI. Josie Guggenbiller was 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Carly Staugler finished 1-for-2 with a run.

Also Thursday, several Fort Recovery softball and baseball players were named to the All-Midwest Athletic Conference teams.

Thien was the only Tribe athlete named to the first team in either sport, and one of just three junior position players to earn the honor in softball.

Andi Sutter and Kendra Brunswick earned second-team honors, and honorable mention went to Josie Guggenbiller, Carly Staugler, Shelby Brunswick and Janelle Schwieterman.

Senior Cody Fiely was the only FRHS baseball player to make the all-MAC list, earning a spot on the second team.[[In-content Ad]]
