Area woman impressed by service

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, my car needed a turn signal bulb replaced. We were on our way home going north out of Portland and thought just to save gas going back to town, we would stop at an auto parts store.
We asked two male employees if they would replace the bulb and each of them said no, saying it would take too much time. There was no one else in the store. So, I sent my friend back to town to see Brad at Portland Motor Parts. Brad wasn’t there, but she asked a very nice gentleman if he had time to replace the bulb. His answer was, “Sure, no problem.”
That job took maybe three minutes at a cost of $2.13. She even tried to tip him and he said that it was part of the job and that the business doesn’t work that way.
So, to all of you that need any auto parts, go to Portland Motor Parts. Brad and his employees will treat you right and go the extra mile.
Thank you to the nice guy that changed the bulb. I will go nowhere else.

The Portland Citizens Police Academy Alumni had a successful bake sale March 3 at the Boomer Basketball Tournament at the Jay Community Center.
The proceeds will go for a scholarship and the Shop With a Cop program at Christmas time.
Our thanks to Jack Houck and his staff for allowing us to do this. Thanks also to the people who baked goods for the event and were there to help with the sales. A special thank you to Bill West for his generous donation. Thank you again to everyone who helped with this annual event.
