Arts Place thanks supporters

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
Thank you once again to our Arts Place supporters!
Nearly 250 people attended the 29th Annual Holiday Benefit Auction at Arts Place. We were elated to raise the second highest amount ever achieved for this event, $20,832.25.  The funds will enhance the lives of thousands of children and adults in our community through our many programs and services.  The auction is the kick-off event for the annual campaign, for which our board and Campaign Cabinet hope to raise $380,000.
The success of the auction was attributable to many people and we would especially like to recognize:
•Loy Realty & Auction, Doug and Gary Loy and their staff for providing the auctioneering services.
•Carolyn Carducci, Chair and Lisa Vogler, Co-Chair
•The numerous businesses and individuals who donated sale items, door prizes and cash.
•The many volunteers who solicited the donations.
•Delta Theta Tau Sorority for ALL of their help both for setting-up on Thursday, running items and handling the refreshment tables on Friday.
•Arts Place Board of Directors and Tyson Foods, Lisa Barnett, for preparing the food, The First Merchants Bank for sponsoring our reception, Jay County Beverage, Jay and Ted Miller for their generous donation to the refreshments.
•Wine Stewards — Jim Burk and Paula Fifer.
•The staff of Arts Place.
•And most importantly, the very enthusiastic and generous crowd that attended this year’s auction.

Mark your calendar for Friday, November 19, 2012, to come and enjoy next year’s Holiday Benefit Auction!
Sincerely,
 Carolyn Carducci, chair

Price questions
To the editor:
Why does the city of Portland always get stuck with higher prices at the pump? All the cities around us are lower. Our Portland stations are the first to go up in price and never drop in price as quickly as our neighboring cities. Shop Portland? Why should we?
