Assistance is available
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Jay County Drug Coalition consisting of law enforcement, mental health agencies, education, judicial, youth agencies and other health care agencies collaborate and coordinate to provide the resources and support to stop the proliferation of drugs and addiction.
However, night after night we see through Capsule Reports and the court news that the drug problem continues to persist in our community.
These agencies are prepared to offer assistance and support to anyone trying to end the problems they may have with addictions. The agencies cannot solve the problem if they are not contacted for assistance and support. The entire community must be aware of the problem and offer assistance when needed by spreading the word of the support system that is readily available.
The drug coalition has been successful the last two years in collecting unused prescription drugs at the spring health fair and Tox Away Day. These drugs are then destroyed in the appropriate manner as opposed to being left in the medicine cabinet or flushed down the toilet. The proper removal of these drugs prevents the possibility of the wrong person getting a hold of them.
The Jay County Drug Coalition will again be collecting these unused or outdated prescription drugs September at Tox Away Day.
