Audience didn't hear whole story

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
On Saturday, Jan. 21, the public met with State Sen. Travis Holdman and State Rep. Bill Davis to discuss a few bills being introduced, with the most discussed one being the right-to-work bill.
If you were in attendance, you know the public is overwhelmingly against the bill. Anyone listening to WPGW Monday morning may not have gotten as strong of an impression to this fact, because all the radio aired were most of Bill Davis’ responses to our questions.
WPGW did comment on Ted Champ’s excellent facts on right-to-work states and their poverty level, which 20 out of 22 have higher poverty levels than Indiana. No public voices were heard. So, I felt compelled to call WPGW. I left a message and Rob Weaver called me back. Upon telling him my disappointment in the public not hearing our questions, his comment was, “I couldn’t mic everybody.”
I said that just wasn’t right, and the public should hear it all. Rob then said, “that’s just the way it is.” Well, in the words of my late uncle Cletus, Right is right, and wrong will never be right.”
So Rob, that was just wrong, just as the right-to-work bill is wrong for the people of this state.
From the heart.

Hopewell thanks
To the editor:
Hopewell Church wants to thank all the community for the love and generosity of funds for the benefit sing for Linda Resler, who is battling cancer.
Special thanks always for the Christianaires, whose singing is always a blessing to anyone who hears it.
Also special thanks to all the other local singers. Each was a blessing and the Spirit of the Lord was there.
The fellowship was sweet, with kind words and new friends becoming brothers and sisters in Christ.
Special thanks to WPGW, Portland, for announcing it so well.
God is moving in Jay County. Listen and you can hear him speak.
Your friend in Christian love.
