Baylor splits in tourney
Ludy's Bears play winner-take-all game at 7 p.m. tonight
WACO, Texas — The Bears will be playing for their tournament lives again.
Josh Ludy and the Baylor University baseball team lost 5-4 Sunday to Arkansas as the Razorbacks scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning when batters were hit by pitches with the bases loaded.
The teams will play in a winner-take-all game at 7 p.m. tonight for the right to advance to the College World Series.
Baylor (49-16) was in control with a one-run lead heading into the final frame, but Jake Miller bobbled a grounder that could have resulted in a game-ending double play. Arkansas took advantage by loading the bases, and Jimmy Bosco and John Reeves were hit by pitches to drive home the tying and winning runs.
The Razorbacks had a 3-1 lead in the game before Baylor scored three times in the fifth inning.
Ludy, a 2008 Jay County High School graduate and the Big 12 Player of the year, had an RBI ground out in the fifth and singled in the first inning to finish 1-for-3. He was also hit by a pitch.
The senior catcher hit a solo home run, his 16th of the season, in the third inning Saturday as the Bears won the opening game of the Super Regional 8-1.[[In-content Ad]]
