Be ready for return of Christ

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” — Revelation 22: 11-12.
There can be no doubt in the heart of true believers that Jesus Christ’s return is coming quickly. He says in these verses, “I come quickly.” And while the church has all but stopped preaching the return of Christ, he tells us in verse 16 that he has testified of these things unto the churches.
While this world is spinning into a greater crisis every day, the so-called leaders of Christianity stubbornly insist on teaching people how to cope with it, instead of warning that Christ is coming and they need to repent of sin which is causing the problem. II Timothy 4:2-3 says, “Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the day will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.” The time that will come is already here. There are more teachers tickling people’s ears than there are men teaching the truth. Truth like Christ’s return is imminent, and the condition of your soul at that time is to be your standing for eternity. Doesn’t matter how many books you have read on how to have your best life now, or how to have your life driven by a purpose.
Yes, Jesus is coming quickly, and it will be way too quickly for most. The time to repent will be past, and your past will stand if you have refused to repent. The Bible tells us of a day that is full of religious people who refuse to repent. II Timothy 3:1-5 says, “This now also that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power therof: from such turn away.” Verse 13 in the same chapter says, “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
These perilous times have come, and pressure is being put on the godly to accept whatever anyone wants to believe or do, no matter unjust, unholy or how filthy it is. Paul said to Timothy in II Timothy 3:12, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Jesus Christ shall suffer persecution. What is taking place in this world may have silenced many because they fear what man will do, but it does not change the outcome for the ungodly.”
Some are counting on Christ’s returning being something written in a book that has no more authority than Dr. Suess. Others are convinced that while Christ’s return may be true, only uneducated radicals believe that you have to repent of sin to be saved from condemnation. When in reality, if repentance was not required, then there would be no unjust or unholy. For entrance into heaven could never be based on your goodness. “But we are all an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. And we all have sinned.” — Isaiah 64:6. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23.
So if he lets you in without repentance, then he would have to let whoever you consider the worst in also.
“Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13. Christ died and rose again that you might live, and II Peter 3:9 tells us that he is waiting for us to repent.
