Benefit raises $4,100 to fight
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The 2012 Jay Benefit for Local Hunger chicken dinner was a success as $4,100 was raised for the Bread of Life Monday meal and Community Family Services’ Helping Hand Food Bank.
We served 930 dinners. We would like to thank Thrivent Financial for matching funds; Fisher Meats and Johnny’s for catering; Immaculate Conception Ladies Rosary Society for the advertising charges; all churches that took part and especially all who purchased tickets for the dinner.
Carol Elzey, for the
Jay Benefit for
Local Hunger committee
Thanks given

Those at MyDreamHaven (http://mydreamhaven.webs.com) would like to thank those who have been gracious in helping us host events for our community to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of our county.
In the fall of 2011 we hosted a five-week boot camp for equipping and encouraging those who have ideas for a new business enterprise.
During the boot camp, each week, Main Source Bank supplied refreshments and snacks for all those in attendance. It was quite the commitment and deeply appreciated by all those in attendance.
In March we hosted a special event with Thaddeus Rex as he prepared to launch a new division of his motivational presentations. For this event First Merchants Bank set up and served a lovely spread of snacks and beverages.
Most recently Dream Haven hosted a special event focusing on “gathering places” and The Bank of Geneva supplied an abundance of drinks and treats and sent Jeanne and Charles Akins to set it all up. Both had been with us during the boot camp last fall and had been more than willing to deliver the goods.
It was so great to have them and their enthusiasm with us that evening. We would like to publicly recognize these financial institutions that have been so supportive and gracious to us.
We would also like to thank those at the John Jay Center who have allowed us to use their facility and have been so helpful in supplying and setting up all that we need to make our presentations.
It is our hope to host special events every couple of months so stay tuned and come join the fun.
