Bids for patrol cars opened
Jay County Commissioners
The Jay County Council will decide Wednesday whether to fund two new cars for the sheriff's department after the Jay County Commissioners opened bids Monday.
The commissioners opened bids from five car dealerships Monday as Sheriff Ray Newton seeks to replace two cars that have around 150,000 miles each on them.
The Jay County Council, which during budget season cut money for new vehicles out of the sheriff's budget last fall, will decide whether to grant an additional appropriation to purchase the cars.
The commissioners received bids from (all bids are for two cars):
•Fuqua Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep, Dunkirk - $47,000, $3,000 trade-in.
•Ken Kunkle Chevrolet, Portland - $38,980 for single color cars, $7,320 trade-in; $43,952 for two-tone cars, $7,759 trade-in.
•Fincannon Ford, Hartford City - $38,311.94, for single color cars, $39,797.94 for two-tone cars, $3,900 trade-in.
•Les Wenning Motors, Fort Recovery - $42,240, for single color cars, $43,010, for two-tone cars, $2,900 trade-in.
•Sam Roberts Ford, Bloomington - $41,050, $3,500 trade-in.[[In-content Ad]]
