Bids opened for sheriff's vehicles
Jay County Commissioners
Jay County Commissioners opened bids Monday afternoon from five area vendors for two new vehicles for the Jay County Sheriff’s Office.
The commissioners opened the bids from vendors throughout the area to replace two sheriff’s vehicles — each of which has more than 100,000 miles.
The Jay County Council appropriated $47,000 to the sheriff’s department last week in order to fund the purchases.
After the bids were opened, they were taken by Newton for review. He will report back to the commissioners with recommendations next week.
Bids for Ford vehicles were received from Les Wenning Motors, Fort Recovery, Crown Victoria, $20,790, and Expedition, $27,970; Moser Motor Sales, Portland, Crown Victoria, $19,133.48 or $18,133.48, and Expedition, $25,477.96; and Fincannon Ford, Hartford City, Crown Victoria, $19,244.48, and Explorer, $20,945.30.
American Chevy and Cadillac, Muncie, submitted bids for Chevrolet vehicles — including, Impala, $19,140.31, and Tahoe, $24,935.85.
And Shifferly Dodge, Decatur, submitted three bids for vehicles — including Dodge Charger, $22,006, Jeep Laredo, $25,479, and Jeep Liberty, $16,183.[[In-content Ad]]
