Blood drive donors announced (8/17/04)

The American Red Cross held a blood drive on Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland. There were 124 donors.

4-H COOKBOOK

Recipes need to be turned in to the Jay County Extension Office by Wednesday, Sept. 1, for the 100th anniversary 4-H Cookbook. The extension office is located at 504 W. Arch Street in Portland. For more information, call (260) 726-4707.

RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP

Rhonda McClain, Pennville, a Jay County High School graduate, has been awarded the John Warren Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship recognizes an outstanding student in a health related field of study at Ivy Tech State College, East Central Region.

McClain in enrolled in the surgical technology program at Ivy Tech.

COMMERCIAL MAKING

Indiana Beach needs extras for filming its TV commercials that will air next season for its 80th anniversary.

Filming will take place from Monday, Aug. 23, through Friday, Aug. 27, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Indiana Beach on Lake Shafer in Monticello.

The filming requires energetic, happy people that like to ride amusement park rides many times. All ages are welcome.
