Bloomfield 4-Star again (8/28/04)

A seventh star will join six others on a banner at Bloomfield Elementary School. Each star represents a year that the school was named a Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education.

Bloomfield principal Dan Hoffman announced to teachers and students during a surprise assembly this morning that the school was again named a Four Star School. This is the seventh time the school has received such a designation.

The school is being honored for demonstrating adequate yearly progress and performing in the top 25 percent of all the schools in the state in attendance rates during the 2002-03 school year, Fall 2003 ISTEP mathematics proficiency scores, English/ language arts proficiency scores and both English/language arts and mathematics scores.

Hoffman said this morning that “the teachers, students and parents focused on ISTEP and worked very hard,” to achieve high scores. “We had fantastic (ISTEP) scores.”

The scores are based on the efforts of then third and sixth graders who took the ISTEP test during the 2002-03 school year. Students and faculty celebrated with doughnuts and milk this morning following the assembly.[[In-content Ad]]
