FRHS football

FORT RECOVERY — Delphos St. Johns ran all over Fort Recovery, literally.
The Blue Jays cruised to an easy 49-0 conference victory over the host Indians Friday night after rushing for nearly 350 yards in the game.
St. Johns (8-0, 6-0 Midwest Athletic Conference) pounded in all seven touchdowns on the ground as seven players combined for 345 yards. The Blue Jay rushing attack was led by Evan Burgel, who scampered for 121 and four TDs on 13 carries.
The Blue Jays scored on their opening drive and never looked back, scoring on all four of their possessions in the first quarter for 28 points. They added 14 in the second and the backups punched in one more score late in the fourth for the final margin.
The Indians (2-6, 0-6 MAC) struggled to put together drives, collecting only seven first downs compared to eight punts on the evening.
Jason Pottkotter and Wyatt Blockberger combined to throw 10-of-20 for 84 yards.
The run game struggled to get moving as eight Indians combined to rush for 72 yards on 27 carries led by Kenny Wenning with 17 yards.
Derek Gaerke caught four passes for 26 yards and Mason Evers had two catches for 33 for Fort Recovery.[[In-content Ad]]
