Board begins appraisal process (02/11/2009)

BERNE - South Adams School Board members set in motion an appraisal process Tuesday for a number of properties the school system will be getting rid of when the new kindergarten through grade eight building is complete.

The current middle school in Geneva, the current elementary school in Berne, and bare ground that was a former football field will be sold when the construction project is complete and classes have moved to the new school.

Construction on the design/build project continues to stay on track, Dave Vorhees, director of buildings and maintenance, reported to the board.

Vorhees also informed the board that while the upper level bleachers in the high school gymnasium have passed inspection they do not meet new Indiana Building Code requirements. Options will be discussed at a future board meeting.

The board unanimously adopted a district calendar for the 2009-2010 school year that effectively puts all Adams County schools on the same calendar for that year.

In other business, the board:

•Hired Brad Buckingham as varsity head baseball coach, Craig McKean as assistant varsity baseball coach, Branden Alberson and Phil Provost sharing one position as junior varsity baseball coaches, and Kyle White as a volunteer baseball coach.

•Hired Jeff Bradtmiller as varsity head softball coach, Jesse O'Dell as assistant varsity coach, Jessica Smith and Dave Flesch sharing one position as junior varsity coaches, and Jeff Turner and Karen Morgan as volunteer coaches.

•Hired Clint Anderson as varsity head coach for girls and boys track; Jeff Lehman, Rod Mosser, and Troy Baumer as assistant varsity track coaches; and Julie Baumer as volunteer track coach.

•Hired Cindy Greer as varsity girls' tennis coach, Kyle Sprunger as assistant varsity girls' tennis coach, and Jim Boyles as volunteer girls' tennis coach.

•Hired Mike Wynn as varsity head coach for boys' golf and Patsy Woods as a driver's education instructor.[[In-content Ad]]
