Bonar asks for $$
Portland Board of Works
Delays in the Boundary Pike/Wayne Street project may mean more money for Bonar Group.
Members of the Portland Board of Works have reviewed a request from Bonar to be paid an additional $72,918.12 for engineering services for the next seven weeks.
During the Thursday morning meeting, board members decided to table the matter until they received word that the Indiana Department of Transportation would pay 80 percent of the additional costs for Bonar. If INDOT agrees, the city would pay 20 percent, which would be $14,583.62.
The contract that the city signed with Bonar in 2007 ended on July 31, which is when the project was expected to be completed.
However, work continues on Wayne Street, near East Jay Middle School, and on Boundary Pike, near General Shanks Elementary School. The work is expected to be wrapped up in about seven weeks, city clerk-treasure Randy Geesaman said Thursday.
He said the project has been delayed by several change orders and unexpected sanitary sewer work.
Geesaman did not have a figure for how much Bonar has been paid so far for work on the Boundary Pike/Wayne Street project.[[In-content Ad]]
