FORT RECOVERY - It would have been difficult for the Indians to be much more dominant.
Forcing 31 turnovers and shoot 63 percent, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team slaughtered the visiting Ansonia Tigers 85-31 Saturday.
The Tribe (12-3) rolled tout to a 17-5 lead against Ansonia and used a 16-0 second-quarter run to extend its advantage to 33 points. It forced 31 turnovers and racked up a 25-10 advantage on the glass.
And Kendra Brunswick and Nicole Pottkotter combined to outscore the entire Tiger squad by six, missing just one shot between them.
Brunswick hit every shot she took, nailing five 3-pointers on the way to a 19-point game.
Pottkotter finished 5-for-6 from the field, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range, and 6-of-6 at the foul line for 14 points. She also had four assists, four steals and a block.
Holly Brunswick and Kelly Nietfeld each came off the bench to join Brunswick and Pottkotter in double figures with 13 points apiece. The Indians shot 31-of-49 overall and had assists on 19 of those hoops.
Nicole Dilworth dished out seven assists, and Olivia Thien grabbed four rebounds.
Ashlyn Hemmelgarn led Ansonia (8-8) with 13 points and three rebounds. Sarah Amspaugh and Jenifer Gasper each had six points.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery outscored the Tigers 23-2 in the first quarter and rolled to a 75-23 victory.
Olivia Schwieterman racked up 22 points and three assists for the Indians, who were up by 32- at halftime. Ericka Lennartz added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Kylie Kahlig had 11 points, nine steals and three assists.
