Brunswick powers FR with three wins

FORT RECOVERY - It was another perfect day for Holly Brunswick.
The sophomore added another three wins, and Tina Roessner and Kylie Kahlig each had a pair, to lead the Fort Recovery High School girls track team to a victory. The Indians posted 94 points to finish in front of Ansonia (81), Franklin Monroe (48) and Jackson Center (27).
Ansonia edged the Tribe in the boys competition 59.5-58.5. Jackson Center (56) and Franklin Monroe (54) were third and fourth.
Brunswick, who won all three of her events in the season opening Tiger Classique hosted by Versailles, took the top spot in the long jump by nearly a foot at 14 feet, 11 inches. She eked out a victory in the high jump by a quarter inch over Franklin Monroe's Brittany Glover at 4 feet, 10 ¼ inches, and also took the 100-emter hurdles in 17.9 seconds.
She teamed with Amber Heitkamp, Jessica Link and Mariah Koester to win the 4x100 relay in 55.4.
Roessner, a senior, fought off strong challenges in both long-distance events. She won the 3,200 run by just a second over Jackson Center's Beth Zimpfer in 13-minutes, 1 second, and was first in the 1,600 run by less than two seconds at 5:45.5.
Kahlig picked up her first varsity victory in the shot put with a three of 32 feet, 5 ¾ inches. She was also first in the 200 dash in 28.3 seconds.
The freshman anchored the Indians' winning 4x200 relay team to a time of 1:57.
Shane Stein led the Fort Recovery boys with his efforts in the jumping events. He easily won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches, out-leaping teammate Dustin Homan by four inches.
Stein also took the long jump at 16 feet, 8 ¾ inches.
Amber Heitkamp recorded the other individual win for the Indians on the evening, posting a time of 52.3 in the 300 hurdles.
