Brunswick scores 19 for Chargers

The new year has been good to Kendra Brunswick.
Brunswick, a 2011 Fort Recovery High School graduate, has scored in double figures in all four of the Edison Community College women’s basketball team’s games in 2012. Her latest double-digit scoring effort came Saturday as she tallied 19 points in a 62-44 victory over Cuyahoga Community College.
The freshman hit a trio of 3-pointers for the Chargers (12-4) in the victory as she shot 50 percent from the field. She also grabbed five rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
Brunswick is averaging 13.1 points per game on the year, including 18.3 in January. She has hit 32 3-pointers and is shooting 42 percent from long range while also averaging 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals per contest.

Pazia Speed
Jay County – 2010
Was perfect at the foul line Saturday in the Huntington University women’s basketball team’s 70-65 victory over St. Francis.
Speed hit all of her six free-throw attempts and scored 16 points for the Foresters (14-7). She also shared the team high of six assists with Lauren Meese, and added six rebounds and four steals.
The sophomore had seven points, three steals and two assists in Wednesday’s 66-63 loss to Marian.

Nick Teeter
South Adams – 2010
Extended his double-figure scoring streak to six games, totalling 14 points Tuesday in the Huntington University men’s basketball team’s 74-65 loss to Marion.
Teeter shot 5-of-7 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, as he shared the team-high scoring total for the Foresters (13-10) with Alec Peterson. He also had three assists and two rebounds.
In an 82-75 loss Saturday to St. Francis, Teeter buried three 3-pointers on the way to a 13-point effort. He added two assists and one rebound.

Cori Vormohr
Jay County – 2009
Picked up sixth-place finishes for the Ball State University women’s swim team Friday and Saturday in losses to Miami (Ohio) and Toledo respectively.
Vormohr’s sixth-place finish against Miami came with a time of 1 minute, 8.88 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke. She joined Logan Brink, Mallory Przybylinski and Katie Saulman for third place in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:43.15.
The junior was also sixth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:08.41 against Toledo. She teamed for a fourth-place finish with Dana Graunke, Betsy Bowen and Katie Balko in the 200 medley relay in 1:52.49.

Greg Kahlig

Fort Recovery – 2012
Helped the University of Findlay men’s basketball team to a 90-73 victory Jan. 19 over Hillsdale.
Kahlig finished with nine points for the Oilers (13-4), who were up by 23 at the half as they handed NCAA Division II No. 14 Hillsdale just its second loss of the season. He also grabbed two rebounds.

Neal Fennig
Jay County – 2011
Turned in a pair of seventh-place finishes Sunday in the Ball State University men’s swim team’s victory at the Butler Invitational.
Fennig took the No. 7 spot in both the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 51.68 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 51.14 as the Cardinals totaled 730 points to win the three-team event ahead of Xavier (697) and Valparaiso (229). He was also ninth with a time of 23.71 in the 50 freestyle.
The freshman teamed with Drew Tharp, Drew Sullenbarger and Joe Morris to place third in the 200 medley relay in 1:39.29.

Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery – 2009
Led the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team in rebounds Wednesday in its 66-58 victory over Otterbein.
Snyder grabbed seven boards as the Polar Bears improved to 15-3. She scored nine points to go along with four assists, two blocks and a steal.
The junior also notched five points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal in Saturday’s 69-55 win over Muskingum.

Brandon Reynard
Jay County – 2009
Turned in a top-10 finish Friday as he competed for the Indiana Tech men’s track team at the Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State University.
Reynard’s best effort came in the 500-meter run, in which he finished eighth out of 36 athletes in 1 minute, 22.97 seconds. He was also 18th out of 81 competitors in the 200 dash in 22.82.

Erin Hunt
Jay County – 2011
Helped the Bethel College women’s basketball team to a 75-40 victory Tuesday over Goshen.
The freshman had one rebound and one assist as the Pilots pushed their record to 17-5.[[In-content Ad]]
