Brunswick takes three to pace Indians (04/09/08)

FORT RECOVERY - Holly Brunswick reprised her roll from the season-opening Tiger Classique, winning another three events Tuesday for the Indians.
The freshman led the Fort Recovery High School girls track team to a big win over visiting Houston (55) and Fairlawn (25.5) with 93.5 points. The Indian boys team finished second with 42 points behind Houston (102) and ahead of Fairlawn (29).
Brunswick swept the jumps, edging teammate Beth Muhlenkamp in the high jump by a quarter inch at 4 feet, 10¼ inches. She took the long jump by more than a foot at 14 feet, 6¼ inches ahead of teammate Alison Tobe.
Her other victory came in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.6 seconds.
Fort Recovery was outstanding in the other two field events as well, taking all the points in the throwing events.
Anne Koesters won both events easily, tossing the discus 102 feet, 10 inches and the shot put 32 feet, 4 inches. Lauren Day, Jessica Link and Barbie Link followed her in the discus, and Barbie Link, Day and Jessica Link were second, third and fourth respectively in the shot put.
Junior Tina Roessner also scored a couple of wins, leading a pair of one-two finishes with freshman Alexis Sutter. Roessner dominated the distance events, leading Sutter by 27 seconds in the 1,600 run in 6:02.10 and winning the 3,200 run by nearly two minutes at 12:41.4.
The Indian boys recorded just two victories, the first coming from Adam Steinbrunner in 11:50.20 in the 3,200 run. Mark Mattraw was first in the shot put by three feet with a distance of 38 feet, 6 inches.
Amber Heitkamp took the 300 hurdles for the FRHS girls in 53.5, and Abby Huelskamp was first in the 800 run in 2:42.4. Roessner, Sutter, Heitkamp and Huelskamp teamed to take the 4x800 relay with a time of 11:23.[[In-content Ad]]
