Brunswick, Trobridge each take two (04/30/08)
FRHS track
FORT RECOVERY - Holly Brunswick and Michael Trobridge each won a pair of events Tuesday as the Fort Recovery High School track teams each finished second.
The girls team (12-6) finished with 58 points, trailing Fort Loramie (84) and finishing ahead of New Knoxville (30). The boys team finished with 56 points to place behind Fort Loramie (86.5) and ahead of New Knoxville (31.5).
Brunswick and Trobridge each won one field event, with Brunswick taking the 100-meter hurdles in 17 seconds flat. She was victorious in the long jump as well at 14 feet, 3½ inches.
Trobridge won the boys long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 7½ inches. He was also first in the 100 dash in 11.8 with teammate Perry Hull as the runner-up.
The only other individual win for the FRHS girls team came from Abby Huelskamp, who took the 1,600 run in 5:59. Alexis Sutter was less than two seconds behind to give the Tribe a one-two finish.
Matt Vagedes gave the boys team (6-6) its third individual win, clearing the bar in the pole vault at 10 feet.
Trobridge, Vagedes and Hull also teamed with Donald Cotterman for a couple of relay wins. They were first in the 4x100 in 48.9 and the 4x200 with a time of 1:40.9.
Junior high
Kylie Kahlig and Aaron Vagedes each won three events, with Kahlig leading the girls team to victory Monday.
The girls team won with 78 points, followed by Ansonia (49) and Bradofrd (25). The boys team scored 43 points to finish second behind Ansonia (80) and ahead of Bradford (32).
Kahlig and Vagedes each won the 200- and 400-meter dash. In her wins Kahlig posted times of 29.7 seconds and 1-minutes, 9.6 seconds respectively, and Vagedes had winning marks of 25.4 and 58.7.
Kahlig took the top spot in the shot put by more than 6 feet at 31 feet, 10 inches, and Vagedes won the long jump at 16 feet, 1 inch.
Christen Wendel (1,600 run), Sam Tobe (800 run), Mikayla Westgerdes (discus) and Becca Tobe (high jump) all added wins for the girls team. The only other individual victory for the boys team came from Nathan Fullenkamp in the 1,600 run.
