Cancer donors listed

The Jay County Cancer Society released its quarterly report for January, February and March.

For January, donations were made in memory of William Williamson by the Platt Family, City of Portland, Ed and Kay Williams, Brad and Karen Myers, Barbara Blackford, Pat Williamson and Bill and Joyce Milligan.

Giving in memory of Chester Evans Jr. was Georgia Steed. Giving in memory of Kay Cliff was Bob and Kathleen Bursley. A grant was given by the Portland Foundation.

Giving in memory of Lois Bailey and William Stockrider were Pam Morehous, Don and Cheryl Morehous, Robert and Vivian Morehous, Carl Morehous, Linda Morehous, Steve and Sharon Shawver and Don and Carol Green. A gift was given by Elizabeth Starbuck.

WORKSHOPS

Great Lakes Native American Arts and Crafts Workshops will be held at the Freeman Scouting Facility in Portland from June 21 through June 25.

Tentative classes to be held are in beadwork, loom beadwork, storytelling, ribbon work, raised bead work, cane loon flute, coiled pottery, porcupine quillwork, hand painting feathers and assembling them into fans, new born baby moccasins, Native American herbal traditions, bowmaking and gourd hand drum. Class sessions will be held from Monday, June 21, at 9 a.m. to Wednesday, June 23, at noon. Then from Wednesday, June 23, at 1:30 p.m. to Friday at 4:30 p.m. The cost per session is $70, plus a fee for supplies to be paid to the instructor.
