Caucus to pick assessor set (03/13/08)
A new county assessor will be chosen Saturday, March 29.
Jay County Republican precinct committeemen will meet on that date at the Jay Community Center at 10 a.m. to choose a replacement for current assessor Anita Mills, who announced her resignation last month.
Mills' resignation is effective Monday, March 31.
Those interested in applying for the position must be a registered voter in Jay County; own real property (real estate) in Jay County; be able to obtain a bond; and be able to obtain assessor certifications required by the state.
Applications are available at the office of the Jay County Clerk in the courthouse. Applications must be in the hands of county GOP chairman Milo Miller Jr. at least 72 hours prior to the caucus.
