Cavaliers power over Fort Recovery by 38 (10/20/07)

COLDWATER, Ohio - Perennial football powerhouse Coldwater proved again Friday night it's still a force to be reckoned with, steamrolling the Fort Recovery Indians 45-7.

Greg Kahlig completed 14-of-28 pass attempts for 125 yards, but Coldwater held the Indians to just 221 yards of total offense, while racking up 351, 190 by rushing and 161 in the air.

The Cavaliers (8-1, 7-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) scored first at 7:13 in the first quarter on a 4-yard run by Tony Harlamert. Mario de la Rosa's kick was good to put Coldwater up 7-0.

But it was in the second quarter that the hosts kicked into gear, racking up three more touchdowns in quick succession.

With 11:53 on the clock, Cory Klenke of the Cavaliers hit Ryan Geier for a 7-yard TD pass. Again, de la Rosa's kick was good.

With 2:52 on the clock, Klenke hit Tyler Kunk for a 5-yard TD pass. And after de la Rosa's kick, it was 21-0. Then Harlamert ran it in from the 6-yard line for his second touchdown of the night. With de la Rosa's clockwork precision on the PAT, the Cavaliers went into the half 28-0.

The third quarter saw Harlamert break free for an 81-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage with 11:33 on the clock. The kick by de la Rosa made it 35-0.

De la Rosa then was called on to attempt a 35-yard field goal with 4:53 on the clock in the third. It too was good, putting the Cavaliers up 38-0.

Coldwater capped its scoring for the night with an 8-yard TD run by Trent Muhlenkamp at 3:13 in the third quarter. Jordan Woeste kicked for Coldwater, and it was good to put the score at 45-0.

Fort Recovery's sole touchdown came with 10:17 on the clock in the fourth quarter when Matt Braun broke free for a 22-yard touchdown run. Mark Mattraw's kick was good, making the final 45-7.

Braun was the leading rusher for the Indians with 61 yards. Harlamert led the Cavaliers on the ground with 125 yards. Toby Metzer was the leading receiver for the Indians (5-4, 4-4 MAC) with 61 yards, while Bobby Rammel returned to the lineup with 54 yards.

Klenke completed 10-of-16 pass attempts for Coldwater for 122 yards.
