Celebration of lights (10/7/03)
Editor's Mailbag
By To the editor:-
This year marks the 10th annual Celebration of Lights at the Jay County Hospital. Come help us celebrate!
The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. The evening will begin with entertainment in conference rooms A and B and then everyone will go outside to watch the hospital and trees light up. After the ceremony everyone is invited for cookies, punch, and more entertainment in the hospital cafeteria.
The Jay County Hospital Auxiliary sponsors this event each year and the donations are used for Lifeline, an emergency response system that provides help 24 hours a day. Lifeline is available to Jay County residents and surrounding counties if an emergency response system is available. Subscribers pay $15 a month for the service. Lifeline allows the elderly and/or handicapped to live in their own homes knowing that help is available by pushing their help button. We currently have 145 units and 20 of those units need to be replaced at a cost of $554.40 each.
Lights can be placed on the trees for a donation of $5 per name or couple, a strand of lights for $100 or an entire tree for $300. Purchasing a light is a way to honor a friend, to remember an anniversary or birthday, or as a memorial for a loved one. Names of the honorees will appear on scrolls in the lobby of the hospital during the holidays.
You still have time to make your donation. Forms are available at the hospital, banks, and most of the businesses in Jay County.
It is a beautiful sight when all the lights are turned on and a wonderful way to start your holiday season.
Please come join us.
