Celina firm approved (07/17/07)
Fort Recovery Village Council
FORT RECOVERY - The village approved a bid from a Celina contractor for an upcoming street reconstruction project during a council meeting Monday.
Chuck Samples General Contractor Inc., 1460 E. Wayne St., Celina, Ohio, was awarded the contract after bidding $343,793. All bids were less than the $379,810 engineer's estimate.
During the project, George Street and Hickory Circle will be reconstructed with new asphalt, curbs and sidewalks.
The project will be partially funded by a public works state grant and a zero percent interest loan. Remaining funding will come from village street funds.
The council also heard a discussion about the village's Mutual Aid Agreement. Currently, police and firefighters are covered by the agreement, but village utility workers may soon be covered by the agreement. Fort Village Administrator Randy Diller said this morning that the village is working with Mercer County to enter into a county-wide agreement.
In other business, council members:
•Approved a $500 donation to Wright State University Lake Campus Business Enterprise Center.
•Heard an update on the negotiations between the village and Dayton Power and Light Company. The village is trying to phase out DPLC, which operates 112 street lamps in Fort Recovery.
•Heard a report on the sewer separation project. Village officials will be meeting with U.S.D.A. Rural Development officials to discuss a grant application for the project.[[In-content Ad]]
