CFS: Thanks for assistance
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
To all friends, family, employees, board/council members and community partners of Community & Family Services Inc.:
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the time, energy, donations and encouragement that has gone into our recent pantry and thrift shop move.
If it hadn’t been for everyone’s involvement, our new location may not have been a reality.
We will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony sponsored by Jay County Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Feb. 13 at 8:30 a.m., and would be honored if each and every one of you could be there to celebrate with us. Please feel free to bring family and friends to show them what we all had a hand in creating.
The ceremony will be held at our new location, 521 S. Wayne St., Portland, right across from our old location. We hope to see all of you there to celebrate this wonderful occasion.
Thank you.
Carly Nichols, community services specialist, Community & Family Services Inc.
Sad day
To the editor:
I have stayed quiet as long as I can on the right to work law. I have read and listened to many long and short articles. Some of these people have no idea what a good union shop can do for people.
I was in a union shop for 43 years and an officer for 42 years, and darn proud of it.
Some of these people who write these articles have never been in a union and neither have any of their family members.
To have union members and non-union members working in the same area just will not work. There will always be some kind of conflict.
Also, the big companies are interested in making money and paying less money and fewer benefits to the people who do the work.
You need a strong union to deal with these companies.
I also think that our elected representatives are not listening to their constituents. It’s a sad day in Indiana with right to work becoming law.
