Change proposed for sewer rules

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
Attention freedom-loving Hoosiers: Did you know that current law allows a sewer district to force you to connect and pay their fees, even if your septic system is in good working order? There is a bill in the Indiana General Assembly this year that would change that.
House Bill 1225 would allow you a free choice in connecting to a sewer, as long as your septic system is working properly. This important bill had a hearing on Wednesday.
Contact your state representative and make your voice heard for the cause of freedom. The telephone number for the Statehouse is (800) 382-9842. You can send an email in support of H.B. 1225 by going to www.in.gov or you can write your representative at Indiana House of Representatives, 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN, 46204.
You can also sign an online petition opposing mandatory sewer connection by going to http://indianafreedoms.org.

To the editor:
I would like to say thank you to the representatives that are sticking up for working Hoosiers.
Don’t let these bought-off corporate cronies fool the citizens of Indiana into believing that the right to work is anything but union busting. That is exactly what it is which in turn is an attack on the standard of living of all workers.
Think about it. If the company I work for has health insurance benefits for its employees and I have to pay a premium in order to receive the benefit, that’s nice. But if I don’t pay the premium I can’t get coverage if I get sick.
Now the Republicans are trying to pass a bill that if I were in a union shop and I decide I don’t want to pay dues I will still get all the benefits that the union negotiates.
If I get fired for something that the contract says is not a violation the union still has to represent me.  And if I pay my health insurance premium and the insurance company doesn’t pay according to the policy, the union will have to represent me. Why the difference between the insurance company and the union?
It’s got to be the money. Greed, again!
