Charity auction set for Dec. 3 (11/26/05)

The Jay County Cancer Society is hosting its second annual Ornament Auction on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at General Shanks Elementary School.

This year the auction includes not only hand-made ornaments, but also stockings, wreaths, Christmas ceramics and other Christmas items.

The evening will also include light refreshments. The auction is a perfect way to purchase a unique Christmas gift at a reasonable price; bids start as low as $1. Your purchase helps the Jay County Cancer Society provide financial support to cancer patients residing in Jay County. It’s a wonderful way to start the holiday season and be charitable at the same time.

I’d like to thank Strohl Appliance, especially Debi Gillespie and Alice Strohl, for heading up the auction. Without their time and dedication this event would not be possible. Also, a great big thank you to: Jay County Cancer Society Board, Delta Theta Tau, Jay County Knights of Columbus, the Altar Rosary Society, Loy Auctioneers and to all those who donated homemade items for the auction.

If you have an item to donate for the auction, please deliver to Strohl Appliance before the Dec. 2 deadline. Remember to come join us Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. for fun and fellowship.
