Cincinnatus League planning show
Letters to the editor
As part of our Random Acts of Kindness, the Cincinnatus League of Portland is sponsoring an event patterned after a 1940s-type of U.S.O. show. The show is especially geared toward senior citizens so they may reminisce of days gone by, though it may also be educational and entertaining for all age groups. The event is scheduled to take place at the Jay Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
The audience will experience the Big Band sounds of the era, along with a variety of skits, vocal groups, dance and much more - including engaging exhibits provided by the Jay County Historical Society and the Museum of the Soldier. The event is free of charge, though donations will accepted as a random act of kindness. Light refreshments will also be served.
Here's where you fit in. Our hope is that you will be willing to provide transportation for senior citizens who would like to attend, but do not have access to transportation.
Any assistance you can offer will be greatly appreciated, and for more information and making arrangements, you may contact Tom Lightle at (260) 437-1259 or Rose Snow at (260) 726-1069. We thank you in advance for your participation.
Respectfully,
Tom Lightle and
