Clamme gives endorsement

Letters to the editor

With my 32 years experience in the prosecuting attorney’s office, I wholeheartedly support Wesley Schemenaur as the next prosecuting attorney for Jay County.
Wes has been a member of the prosecuting attorney’s staff for more than four years.
It’s been my pleasure to share office space with him for the last four years. During that time we have discussed the role of prosecuting attorney and the intent of criminal law. Wes well understands both.
He’s serious, well-schooled, and has a public service attitude that will serve the county well.

During his tenure in the office, Wes has handled virtually every type of offense that could cross his desk in the future. He’s charged, prepared and tried many, many cases on his own and has worked with me on others. He’s developed a strong working relationship with city and county law enforcement personnel. Most notably, he assisted in the preparation and trial of the recent murder cases.
Is Wes too young for such a position? Not in my opinion. I was just 29 when I was first elected. What’s important is his background and work ethic.
