Clamme taking on Burkett (02/10/06)

Two additional contested races for the May primary election were created Thursday when Robert Clamme, a Democrat, submitted a courtesy filing for the Jay County Prosecuting attorney’s spot, and Ted Champ, a Democrat, filed to seek his party’s nomination for the Jay County Council 1 seat.

Incumbent prosecuting attorney Bradley Burkett, also a Democrat, had earlier filed to seek his party’s nomination for the position. Champ, a resident of 4904 South Ind. 1, Redkey, will be running against incumbent Gerald Kirby, also a Democrat, who earlier filed for the council seat that represents Richland Township.

Clamme, a resident of 1423 East Ind. 26, Portland, is a former prosecutor.

Also filing Thursday was incumbent Jay County Assessor, Anita Mills. The Republican candidate, a resident of 1837 West 500 North, Portland, is completing her first four-year elected term in office. She was appointed to serve for two years prior to that.

Ron Harris, a Democrat, also filed for the position earlier this week.

Other filings Thursday in Jay County Clerk Jane Ann Runyon’s office included:

•Bryan Alexander, 303 E. Arch St., Portland, Republican delegate.

Anyone interested in filing is reminded that the deadline to file for the primary is Feb. 17.[[In-content Ad]]
