Clerk staff lauded for elections
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
We would like to publicly thank Jay County Clerk Ellen Coats and her staff for a very smooth running Primary Election on Tuesday.
Although the turnout was low, it was higher than any of us workers in Wayne 2 had anticipated.
We would also like to thank the Voters in Wayne 2 for their cooperation. Most of them had their ID in hand when they walked in the door.
All in all, it was a good day. We were treated to a good lunch, and Ellen and her staff were organized and available to help if needed. We are all looking forward to working again for the Election in November.
So — Ellen, Staff and Voters — Thank You!
Sincerely,
Janice Durham, Lola Joy, Dottie Quakenbush, Kristie Quakenbush and Jeannine Poole
Benefit thanks
To the editor:
On April 15 the Jay Community Center was filled with more than 60 people who put on their dancing shoes to help Dance Cancer Away for Jay County cancer patients.
Our featured dance was Zumba. For anyone unfamiliar with Zumba, it is a fun, energetic form of exercise for all ages. Participants enjoyed an evening of Zumba and light snacks while helping local cancer patients.
A big thank you goes out to our Zumba instructors Josie Hemmelgarn, Dawn Milligan, Anna Racster and Josie Shatto for their generous donation of time and talent. These ladies know how to make you work hard and have fun while doing it. They certainly showed us an awesome, high-energy, full-filled evening.
Thanks to our sponsors: Charles H. Miller DDS & Associates, Blacksmith Union Local 1620, Jay County Hospital, Pak-A-Sak and Starr Real Estate LLC. Thanks to the Jay Community Center, Jack Houck, Carolyn Carducci and staff for all their help in making this a successful event. Thank you to Nancy Robbins for the flier design; Alice Strohl and Wanetta Millett for helping at the event and Jay County Cancer Society members who donated snacks.
A huge thank you to all who came out to support our event. Your kindness and generosity raised $615 that will benefit Jay County residents with their difficult cancer journeys.
See all of you at the 10th annual Jay County Walk Against Cancer on June 26.
