Coach hired at W-D
JCHS boys basketball
GASTON — After three seasons as an assistant for the Patriots, John McGlothin will lead a program again.
McGlothin was hired Tuesday as the boys basketball coach at Wes-Del High School. He has served as the varsity assistant for Jay County coach Craig Teagle for the last three years.
“I’m excited about it. It’s a great opportunity for me to get back into head coaching,” said McGlothin while thanking the JCHS coaching staff, players and community. “This last three years at Jay County is what rejuventated me. I couldn’t have asked for a better situation …
“There’s very few of those schools and communities left in Indiana. (Jay County) has one of them, and I hope they never take that for granted.”
McGlothin was the head coach at Blackford for five seasons before resigning in 2009. He took a year off from coaching before joining the JCHS staff.
He takes over a Wes-Del squad that went 7-14 last season. The Warriors’ last winning season came with a 14-8 mark in 2007-08.[[In-content Ad]]
