Coalition supports disposal

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
The Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition is very appreciative of all the individuals who properly disposed of controlled substances during the ToxAway Day.
Examples of some of the substances turned in include hydrocodone, Darvocet, oxycodone and amphetamines.
Unfortunately, these substances as well as other over-the-counter drugs, are the drugs of choice for some individuals. The proper disposal of these items is another way of making them unavailable to those that might choose to abuse them.
The drug coalition fully supports and encourages everyone to collect medications that you no longer need to dispose of these items at the next available collection time.
M. Lee Newman, member, Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition

Trades salute
To the editor:
Friday, Sept. 21 was National Tradesmen Day. I am writing to express my appreciation for our heating tradesmen.
Our furnace needed to be replaced last year. We checked with local heating professionals and determined that Sertech had the furnace we needed. Wayne Blevins is an honest man. Since my mom and I are senior citizens, we didn’t need a top of the line furnace that would last us for 50 years. Mr. Blevins sold us a no-frills basic furnace instead of charging us for the highest-priced one.
Our old furnace died late last year and Mr. Blevins had several installations to do at that same time.
Some of these installs were emergencies where the homeowners had no heat at all. He worked long hours and got all of his customers taken care of in a timely manner.
Each year after a furnace has been installed, Mr. Blevins sends out his reliable technicians, Taylor and Rob, to inspect and service the furnaces as part of preventative maintenance. His friendly office manager, Jennifer, sets up the yearly and new appointments.
Thank you Mr. Blevins. We greatly appreciate you.
With gratitude,
Cheryl Landfair
